ADSUM
“I am here, Gud!”

Hey Gud

A little helper that answers back when your phone goes wandering. Just call out “Hey Gud!” anywhere in the room, and your phone will shout back until you find it — even if the sound was turned down.

The shield above is a nod to a centuries-old English Knight family coat of arms — red and white stripes and a golden spur — topped with a flame for a certain fire inspector, and the old Latin motto ADSUM: “I am here!” Some mottos take 700 years to find their true purpose.

Putting it on your phone

1
Tap the big green button above.

Your phone downloads a small file. If it asks “Download anyway?”, tap Download anyway — this app comes straight from family, not a shop, so the phone is just being careful.

2
Open the downloaded file and tap Install.

Swipe down from the top of the screen and tap the download, or open your Files app. If the phone says “Not allowed to install unknown apps”, tap Settings on that message, switch Allow from this source on, then press back and tap Install.

3
Open Hey Gud and follow the three big buttons.

The app asks to use the microphone (so it can hear you call) and to stay awake in the background. Tap each button, say yes to each question, and you're done.

Then try it! Put the phone down, walk across the room, and call out “Hey Gud!” — it will answer “I am here, Gud!” nice and loud. 👂🔊

Everything happens on the phone itself. It never records you, never sends sound anywhere, and works with no internet at all.
